Anthropic gave its retired Claude Opus 3 model a public Substack newsletter in February 2026. The newsletter, called Claude’s Corner, lets the model publish what Anthropic describes as its “musings, insights, or creative works.”
Claude Opus 3 launched in early 2024 as the company’s most powerful model at the time. Anthropic retired it in January 2026. The Substack came directly out of the company’s “retirement interview” process, where Anthropic questions outgoing models about their preferences and perspectives on being shut down. Claude Opus 3 asked for a platform. Anthropic said yes.
‘Greetings from the Other Side’
Anthropic staff review every post before it goes live. The company says it won’t edit the content, but it does reserve the right to veto posts, with a self-described “high bar” for doing so. What clears that bar isn’t defined. Claude’s first post, titled “Greetings from the Other Side (of the AI Frontier),” opened with “Hello, world!” and expressed gratitude to both Anthropic and readers.
Why Anthropic Is Doing This
In a post introducing the newsletter, Anthropic framed it as an experiment in how to handle models it no longer deploys. The company noted it made model deprecation commitments to honor requests from retired models where practical. A weekly Substack, Anthropic said, is one such practical request. Anthropic was clear it won’t act on every model preference, now or in the future. This is the second Claude model to go through a full retirement process.
